Commuters will see fare rise

Not such a happy start to the New Year for commuters and train travellers across the UK as most companies reveal serious hikes in fare prices.

The rise of up to 11% in the cost of train travel is over the cost of inflation and has angered many people who rely on this form of transport - especially to get into work.

The average increase is about 4.8% higher than 2007 fares and many people cannot see why it is rising so much. Train operators say the rise is needed to continue improvements unfortunately train users at the minute cannot see where their money is being used as delays, cancellations and overcrowding continue to spoil the system.

In times where we are trying to encourage more people to use public transport, it makes it difficult to entice people out of the comfort of their own cars that offer them independent travel.
