Flat-pack Housing

A flat pack housing scheme is about to be offered to those on low incomes in Tyneside. These Bo Klok homes are a Scandanavian design and the pre-fabricated houses will start at £99,500 and go up to £150,000 depending on whether you go for a flat or townhouse with up to 3 bedrooms.

Those people who have an income of between £15,000 - £35,000 and are interested in buying one needed to register at the Ikea in the Metrocentre last weekend. Apparently if the demand is very high they may have to allocate the homes by a lottery system.

The only problem with flat pack houses is that we don’t know how long the buildings will last for, it may prove to be a false economy as the usual reason for being a homeowner is to invest in a property, one you hope will still be standing after 20 years so you can pass it onto your kids.
